Haines  is one of my all time favorite places in the North, so not surprisingly we race down for another long weekend.

The salmon fishing is quiet – we’re too early in the season – though  I do land one on my second cast.
As usual, we have to walk back from the rivers edge to allow the local population room to wander through. Once they’re past we resume fishing for half an hour, until they come back again.

The next day we hike up Mount Ripinski which overlooks Haines and the whole inlet. Spectacular does not do it justice.
