Overland Travel Essentials: West Africa – Myths, Misconceptions and Misnomers

My new eBook Overland Travel Essentials: West Africa puts many commonly-held myths about Travel in West Africa to rest once and for all, and provides practical and real-world information and advice to successfully traverse the coastline in your own vehicle.

Overland Travel in West Africa became popular in the 80s and 90s with the Camel Trophy and Bamako Rallies. Much of the information available today is still based on conditions at that time, though much has changed in this unique corner of the world. Overlanders continue to make decisions about the West Coast route based on outdated information and myths that are now more than twenty years old!

Whether you ride a bicycle, motorbikes or drive a 4×4 or large truck camper, this guide to West African Overland Travel contains the crucial information you need to make the trip successfully.

Hi Dan…when do you get to Cape town…?

    • Dan Grec says:

      Hi Ray,

I have already been and gone. Sorry, I ended up on a bit of a schedule because my SA visa was running out and I needed to get back to JBurg for some Jeep upgrades and modifications.

  3. Hi Dan.
Unfortunately there’s no book for the rest of Africa.
Will one will be published (I’m looking also for south east information) in the near future?

    cheers

      Hi Thorsten,

I had always planned to publish one, thought right now I’m extremely busy writing The Road Chose Me Volume 2, so I honestly don’t know when I will get around to it.

Hi Dan, I was wondering if it would be possible to buy your e-book directly? Amazon doesn’t accept Paypal unfortunately. Was kind of looking for advices on traveling West-Africa as I’m planning to do Sevilla, ES to Cape Town, SA overland by public transport. Also, if you have any tips in general, I would love to hear from someone who’s done something similar to backpacking that trail.

    Thanks!
