    Hi Dan,

One of my co-workers introduced me to your website and I now have this crazy desire to overland from Dakar to Lisbon in my 2013 Wrangler. I’m currently working/living in Dakar until late 2017. I’ll continue to follow your adventure for tips on the best route through the Maghreb and West Africa. As you pass through Senegal, please feel free to reach out if you need any assistance. Myself and a few other Jeep owners would love to hear about your African journey thus far. Take care and safe travels.

    V/r,

Jeep looks as ready as possible, can the canopy roof handle any additional weight if needed?

When are you planning on crossing into Africa?

    • Dan Grec says:

      Thanks Jay,

Yes, the roof can be bought with roof racks if required, and can carry a lot of weight, though really heavy things must be taken off before the roof is “open” for sleeping.

    Dan,
I appreciated your story and how you made your dream come true! Loved the detail you included in the build of your Jeep. I’m hoping to do the Alaska to Argentina trip in the future myself.
    Any words of advice?
    Regards Nate

      Nate,

      Thanks, that’s awesome.
My biggest advice is to slow down and take your time. Anything less than 1 year would be a shame, make it 18-24 months to really enjoy it!
Also, you will find WikiOverland extremely helpful!

      All the best,
      -Dan
