Around Ushuaia

Now that I’ve made it to the bottom of the world, I’m going to stick around for a while and really soak it in. Hanging out with Seth, Parker and Justin is great fun, and when we’re not out drinking, we seem to be constantly finding some other kind of trouble.
Somehow, all the locals that come to the campground know who we are.. hmmmm

Our week…

  • Tierra Del Feugo National Park, at the very end of the road where we camp a few days and pose in front of the sign.
  • Throwing disc golf on green grass, soak in sunshine and have a BBQ and beers for my birthday.
  • Inspecting all the local bars and empanada cafés.
  • Towing firewood then Parker on his bike behind the Jeep. (“I’ve ridden all the way down, I don’t need to ride back!”)
  • Riding around town on the back of Parker’s bike.

Dan~ It’s been so fun to follow your travels! I particularly like the breaks in the day during work where I can just “take off” and read some of you blog posts and see some great pictures. I do ‘some’ traveling myself — so I thought. Then I read and see where you’ve gone, and my definition of traveling changes… The map on the hood of your Jeep is epic! Nice work. Very nice work! ~Toby (Seattle, WA)

      Hey Toby,
It´s great to hear I provide a distraction from the regular work day.. :)
Anything else I can do to further kill your productivity? Haha.
      Thanks for following along!

We are curious about how much
    gas you used?

    • Dan says:

Hey Jared, I have no sat down and figured it out exactly, though I know the Jeep runs right around 13L/100km so that means I burnt about 7000 liters.. roughly.
My gut feeling is average price of gas has been close enough to $1/liter though again thats just a guess more than anything.
I will make a post sooner or later about trip statistics and I will try to nail those numbers down a little more accurately.
I hope that helps, let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Great pictures Dan. I chuckled at the picture of the fox. I recall a similar picture and entry when you were parked just outside of Deadhorse, way up at the other end of the OTHER continent. :) Maybe he followed you.

    • Dan says:

Good spot Jim, I knid of did that on purpose :)
As soon as I saw the fox slinking around our campsite I knew what had to be done. It really is amazing how similar southern patagonia is to Alaska and the north in general.. so many times I find myself saying: Just like Alaska..
      All the best,

    Hey man,

I never asked you, but how much are you asking for the Jeep? And when do you want to sell it..

    Hey Dan,

I am actually traveling as well and I am currently in Ushuaia–care to meet up? I have been here for about 6 weeks now living with a girl I met while traveling through Europe. Let me know if you are still around.

    -Scott

    • Dan says:

Hey Scott, I left Ushuaia a week or two ago, and am just about to head to El Calafate if you are in the area. I think I will hike around Mt. Fitz Roy, etc. so I should be around for a week or more.
Are you planning on staying in Ushuaia for a while or hitting the road? Catching up for a beer would be great.

    Hey Dan!
Congrats on making it to the end! And the dreadlocks survived the whole trip! Have fun with everything. If you stop in LA on your way to your next adventure let us know. If you come at the beginning of April you can see the new baby!
Take care and lots of love,
    Jen

    Hey Dan,
Your pictures and posts are great! I really enjoyed looking at them. They’re amazing! By the way, there’s a lesson about your adventures in the ESL book “American English File Starter- Unit 12) and that’s where I got your website address. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck on your travels.

    Take care,

    Arif
