Upper Dewey Lake Skagway Alaska
Trips to Skagway in Alaska are anther weekend favorite of mine. Winter is a few months sorter than Whitehorse because Skagway is right on the ocean, so we often find ourselves there in early spring and late fall. It’s fantastic to be able to drive from a -20C snow white wonderland down grass and flowers.
Heather and I hike to Upper Dewey Lake – a surprisingly steep trail, and stay a couple of nights in the free cabin.
There is a much newer cabin with an oil stove that can be rented for $10/night.
It’s an amazing weekend hiking in the mountains, with no connection to the world.
