Hey Sandra,
This gravel road is somewhere between Tierradentro and the main highway. The normal gravel road was washed out in a flood, so we spent almost an entire day on very very small backroads to get where we needed to go. It was an amazing tour of the backroads of Colombia
Amazing trip !!!
I just found your web site and are reading it everyday since
I will leaving next week from Canada to argentina !!!! but no jeep just a small four door car so I have a question.
Would you say a car like a Honda civic can get through this road that your drove on ?
Will I have enough traction or ground clearance ?
You’re about to have the adventure of a lifetime. If you have not seen WikiOverland yet you should absolutely check it out. It will be very helpful on your trip!
As for your Honda Civic – you will absolutely make it to Argentina, though there will be some roads you will have to drive very, very slowly on and you might have to stick to the paved highway more than I did in my Jeep. I know small cars have done it before, just be gentle to your suspension and you should be fine – i.e. Don’t drive too fast on rough roads.

I've set out to drive my Jeep Wrangler 80,000 miles in a circumnavigation of the African continent. Read the announcement
Here on The Road Chose Me you can read all about my ongoing adventure, see my photos and watch my videos.
You can also read back through my 40,000 mile, 22 month adventure in a Jeep Wrangler through 17 countries from Alaska to Argentina.
Where is the dirt road that you are on? Between Popayan and the National Parque, or after the park?
cheers,
