Heather’s sister Laura came North for a visit, and Heather was super-excited to take her on her first overnight hiking trip. Haines pass is a beautiful area, and we both love the Samuel Glacier hike so it was an easy decision.

Our hike in was under clear skies and warm sunshine, keeping us in high spirits. The glacier loomed larger and larger as we got closer, until we setup camp as close as possible.

The night was clear, though I was too warm in my sleeping bag to get up for star photography.

Drizzling rain has us cut the trip a day short, but it also meant we would pig out on fried junk food and sleep warm and dry in a campground shelter with the wood stove pumping out heat
