Kalandula Falls

Not far from the black rocks are the mighty Kalandula Falls. We spend an entire day checking them out from every possible angle, even walking right down to river level below a massive old hotel that is being completely rebuilt into five star luxury by the friendly owner.

From the far side the falls are extremely impressive

The amount of water thundering over the falls is extremely impressive, and I love that it’s possible to walk right to the edge of the falls. There are no fences or sings, each person just has to make up their own mind about how careful (or not) they want to be. I stand right on the edge, and am able to look directly down the falls.

How close to the edge did you get? Close

There are a ton of Angolan tourists getting around, all extremely happy to be out exploring their own country. All are driving nice newer SUVs and have large-screen touch-phones.

Being so close to the edge is great!

Again, I don’t see another foreigner for the entire visit.
