Rusty, my mighty $450 go-anywhere vehicle. With studded winter tires, selectable 4×4 and 3 plugins (block, sump, battery) it’s up for the challenges -40C presents.
The Kluane Mountains at sunrise
The Alaska Highway in the dead of winter. It’s about -35C, bad viability. The few moose and caribou that jumped out made things VERY exciting.
Alyeska Mountain Resort – we walked around the whole village many times at night
Heather and snowboard on the summit of Alyeska
The Alyeska Hostel – an extremely friendly place to stay right on the mountain
Using the Christmas Lights at the hostel to plugin the Subaru when it was cold
An old chairlift at Alyeska
The restaurant at the top of the Alyeska Gondola
Snowboarding down Alyeska. That’s the ocean behind me
Dan and snowboard on the summit of Alyeska Resort. The mountains are absolutely enormous.
